Irene Gauvin, 96, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday January
26, 2022 at the Villa du Repos. Born in Saint-Antoine, she was the
daughter of the late John and Annie (LeBlanc) Cormier.
She is survived by three children: Normand (Rosella) of
Saint-Antoine, Paul (Carole) and Florence Bouchard (Georges), both of
Dieppe; five grandchildren: Léo-Paul, Janice,
André, Hélène, and Michel; six
great-grandchildren: Erika, Mylène, Julien,
Geneviève, Vicky, and Sophie; one sister, Noella LeBlanc
(Emery) of Saint-Antoine; two brothers: Adelire (Huberte) and Gerald
(Marie), both of Saint-Antoine; two sisters-in-law: Odette Cormier of
Saint-Antoine and Donna Cormier of Toronto, ON; as well as several
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur Gauvin; her
second husband, Laurie Cormier; one sister, Rita (Leonard); four
brothers: Laurie (Maria), Omer (Alma), Deus, and
Donald.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the
staff of the Villa du Repos for the excellent care provided to Irene,
as well as to Carole, Irene’s daughter-in-law, for being an
exceptional caretaker during the past few years.
By request, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass
will be celebrated at Saint-Antoine l’Ermite R.C. Church,
24, avenue de l’Église, Saint-Antoine, on Monday
January 31 at 11 am. Face covering is mandatory, proof
of vaccination and government issued identification card are required
to enter the church, and social distancing is in
effect. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In
memory of Irene, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society would be
appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of
