Edmond Duguay, 96 years, and 9 months, passed away on Thursday January 6, 2021, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Bas-Cap-Pelé, he was the son of the late Alfred and Rose-Anna (Fagan) Duguay.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the Department of Transport. Edmond enjoyed playing cards, crib, darts, pool, and long walks.

He is survived by a daughter, Alva (Allard Landry) of Cap-Pelé; his three sons: Jean-Paul (Zella) of Shemogue, Bernard (Phyllis) of Cap-Pelé and Eddie (Sylvette) of Cap-Pelé; five grandchildren: Marcel, Mario, Julie, Suzanne, and Samuel; eight great-grandchildren: Yannick, Sébastien, Céline, Mylène, Alex, Caleb, Justin, and Jonathan; a sister, Rita Brun (late Pat); two brothers: Roger (Lorraine) and Omer (Alfreda); three sisters-in-law: Yvonne Duguay of Cap-Pelé, Rose-Marie Duguay of Shediac and Sara Vautour (late Donat).

He was predeceased by his wife Bertha, née Vautour (1991); a son, Guy (1973); a sister, Cécile Richard (2021); three brothers: Philippe, Alban, and Larry.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 2642 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé on Monday January 10th from 7 pm to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila Church R.C. Church, 2648 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, on Tuesday January 11 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Face covering is mandatory, and proof of vaccination and government issued identification card are required to enter the funeral centre and the church; and social distancing is in effect.
