Henri (Henry) Léger, 89, of Shediac passed away surrounded by his family on December 22, 2021, at the Dr Georges-L.- Dumont Hospital.
Founder of Henry’s Auto Body and Towing in Shediac. He was amongst the first group of investors in the Pointe-du-Chêne Yacht Club and was at his happiest at the wheel of his boats. Starting off with fast cruisers, he then settled for more comfort in his favorite, the Beau Séjour II. He loved everything about the water, swimming, fishing and would rarely let a day pass without a visit to the Wharf. He and Emerise enjoyed many years camping with their 5th wheel, travelling across the USA and spending winters in Florida. He was a life-long dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their sporting endeavors.
Born in Barachois, he was the son of the late Freddy and Edmée (Leblanc) Léger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Emerise (Landry). He was the proud father of Richard (Odette), Marcia (Pat) Browne, and Serge (Krystal). Henri adored his grand-children Stéphanie Léger, Ryan, Erika and Dominic Browne and Gabrielle Léger.
He will be missed by his sisters, Rita (late Jack) Newlands of Moncton, Angela of Barachois and Alfreda (Roland) Tremblay of Montreal; brothers: Donald (Rose-Marie) of Moncton, René of Montreal, and Fernand (Anne) of Ottawa. He also leaves behind his in-law family as well as several nieces and nephews from the Léger and Landry descendants.
Henri was predeceased by his sister Diana LeBlanc and brothers Edouard, Aquila, Roger, Clorice and Amedée.
Private funeral at the family’s request. The private funeral service will be streamed on Wednesday December 29 at 3pm; to view the funeral, go to his obituary on our Website.
Thank you to the staff in section 3A of the Dumont hospital for their care and compassion.
