Shediac NB - The last survivor of his family, a force of nature passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the age of 96. A proud, worthy, and honest gentleman. Golf was his great passion, hitting the ball until the age of 92 with as much righteousness as he led his life. With his volunteer work and many communities’ involvement, he has been a great source of inspiration for his family.

He was the husband of the late Phyllis Landry (2010) and son of the late Théophile Landry and the late Alice (LeBlanc) Landry.

As he often liked to say, he was very proud of his descendants: Jacqueline (Paul Belliveau), Janice (Gabriel Robichaud) and Pierre (Rachel Thériault); his grandchildren: Stéphane (Claudine), Lynn, Sophie (Serge), Julien (Christine), Pascale (Tim), and Claudie (Simon); three great grandchildren: Théo, Clara, and Isaac, as well as several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law: Juliette Cormier and Bernice Landry.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: Eva Gallant, Dina Petitpas, Emile, Dery, Edgar and Alcide.

He was a loyal CN employee for 43 years. Proud resident of Shediac, we note his great contribution to the presidency of the Association of nursing homes of NB and Canada, councillor for the city of Shediac, member of the Beaubassin planning commission, of the parish committee, of the Villa Providence and affiliated corporations, the Shediac Cooperative and the Knights of Columbus.

But his most beautiful bequest remains his transmission of noble values: such courtesy, politeness, rigor, and perseverance.

A formidable card player, he also took great pleasure in maintaining his garden and receiving the family for a good, boiled dinner.

The family wishes to thank Résidence O Bon Soins in Shediac for their excellent services and friendships, as well as the 3F unit at G-Dumont Hospital for their compassion and empathy towards our father.

Due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation. The private funeral will be broadcast live on Éric's obituary on our website at www.salonfrenette.com on Monday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m. In memory of Eric, a contribution to the Vestiaire St-Joseph would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (532-3297).
