Leda Maillet, 104, formerly of Notre-Dame, sadly left this
world peacefully surrounded by family and staff at the Foyer
Saint-Antoine on Sunday December 12, 2021. Born in Saint-Antoine, she
was the daughter of the late François "Bruno"
Melanson and Zita (Allain) Allain.
An amazing person, she loved everyone and they loved her
back. She was kind, caring, and helped the people she could. Leda
enjoyed her flowers, her gardens and making quilts.
She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne (Romeo) of
Saint-Edouard; her son, Paul of Notre-Dame; two grandsons: Daniel
(Janet) and Richard (Sheena); two great-grandchildren: Jordan and
Kaylee; one brother, Clarence (Simone) of Lancaster, MA; as well as
several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lionel (2007); four
sisters: Azelie (Edgar), Helene (Zoel), Yvonne (Joe), and Leona
(Antoine); four brothers: Antoine (Florida), John (Aline), Ernest
(Lorraine), and Irois (Corinne).
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude towards
the staff of Foyer Saint-Antoine for their exceptional care and
attention provided to Leda and always making sure our mother was
happy. We truly appreciate every little gesture that everyone made to
make her feel at home.
Due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation. The funeral
mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur R.C.
Church, 3863 Route 115, Notre-Dame-de-Kent, on Tuesday December 14 at
4 pm. Interment will be in parish cemetery. Face
covering is mandatory, and proof of vaccination and government issued
identification card are required to enter the church.
In memory of Leda, a contribution to the Foyer Saint-Antoine would be
appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of
Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton
(858-1900).
