Edgar Gauvin, 96, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday December 7, 2021 at the Villa du Repos. Born in Fox Creek, he was the son of late Zacharie and Celestina (LeBlanc) Gauvin.

Prior to his retirement, Edgar worked for CN as carman and was a member of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Golden Age Club.

He is survived by his nephew, Denis (Christine), who took care of him, and their children, Émilie and Alex, who considered him like their grandfather; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eva née Bourgeois (2004); two sisters: Hermine and Lorraine; and three brothers: Eddie, Emery, and Norman.

A sincere thank you goes to Unit 200 at the Villa du Repos for their exceptional care provided to Edgar.

By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday December 10 at 10:30 am. Face covering is mandatory, and proof of vaccination and government issued identification card are required to enter the funeral centre. In memory of Edgar, a contribution to the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church or a mass offering would be appreciated.
