It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our
dear dad, Eric Joseph Richard, 91, formerly of Moncton, surrounded by
his family on Sunday December 5, 2021 at Lakeview Manor in Riverview.
Born in Rogersville, he was the son of the late John and Marie Blanche
(Hebert) Richard.
Eric spent his career as an optician with Imperial Optical
for 40 years. He managed stores in Edmundston, PEI and then settled in
Moncton. He loved playing music with his brothers as well as his
fiddle group. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his camp. He was
known for telling a good joke.
Dad was a loving, caring husband to our Mom, Madelyn, who
passed away December 2020. Married for 65 years, their love was one we
all admired! They had a fun life together filled with music and
dancing, and loved spending time with family and many good
friends!
Dad was a great father. He was very interested in our lives
and so proud of all of us. He always had good advice and loved to call
us just to chat. We will miss him so much but we are happy the
lovebirds are reunited in heaven together.
Dad is survived by his five children: Dianne McManaman, Paul
(Edith) Richard, Maureen (Dave) Boudreau, Janice (Steve) Brigham, and
Susie (Rick) Melanson; 12 grandchildren: Scott, Michael, Jenna,
Melissa, Shawn, Stephen, Greg, Brandon, Mackenzie, Ryan, Julie, and
Chris; seven great-grandchildren: Jaren, Charlee, Jacob, Katie, Eric,
Ben, and Brooke; one brother, John; as well as several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, Eric was predeceased by his
sisters: Jeannie, Maclena, Marie, and Lena; his brothers: Celime, Joe,
Emile, Prosper, Gaspar, Eddie, and Armand.
We want to thank the incredible staff at Lakeview Manor for
the loving care they gave our Dad over the last few years. When Covid
kept us away, we had peace of mind knowing he was in the best care
possible! We are forever grateful to you all.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday December 9 at 3:30 pm.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 1:30 pm until time of funeral.
Face covering is mandatory, and proof of vaccination and
government issued identification card are required to enter the
funeral centre. Interment will be at Our Lady of
Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Eric, a contribution to
Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
