Jacqueline Collette, 94, formerly of Moncton, passed away on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at the Foyer Saint-Thomas in Memramcook. Born in Montréal, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Losier) Cool.

Jacqueline graduated from the Université de Moncton with a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Education. Among the honors received were an honorary doctorate in education from the Université de Moncton and the Order of Canada. She has had a long career in teaching, especially at the high school level and in French studies. After her teaching career, Jacqueline volunteered with many organizations dealing with women, retired teachers, seniors, literacy, the Acadian people, as well as commissions, and even the Caisses populaires. She lived a peaceful retirement, proud of the road traveled and was still slightly active on occasion.

She is survived by her son, Jacques-Marie (Diana) of Moncton; her adoptive daughter, Rena DesBiens (Lucien) of Québec, QC; three grandchildren: Carey (Lori), Dawn, and Bradley; four great-grandchildren: Cassidy, Cali, Lincoln, and Casey; one sister, Jeannine Cantwell of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lomer (2006); one granddaughter, Tammy; one sister, Anne-Marie; and four brothers: Lionel, Jean, Donald, and Georges.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Center, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday December 7 at 4 pm. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 pm until time of funeral. Face covering is mandatory, and proof of vaccination and government issued identification card are required to enter the funeral centre. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to her obituary on our Website. Interment will be at Saint-Jean-Baptiste cemetery in Bouctouche. In memory of Jacqueline, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
