It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Antoinette LeBlanc, 99, of Moncton, on Sunday November 14, 2021 at
Hospice Southeast New Brunswick (Albert House). Born in Moncton, she
was the daughter of the late Thaddée and Yvonne (LeBlanc)
Léger.
Having graduated from nursing in 1943, Antoinette practiced
at the Hôtel Dieu de l’Assomption hospital. She
was a past member of the Beauséjour Curling Club, and acted
as team skip for many years. She was also a long-time member of Les
Dames d’Acadie.
Since her very early years, she spent most summers at Cap
Bimet, and in later years her winters at St. Petersburg, Florida. She
enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and travelled
extensively.
But Antoinette’s true passion was her family, and
she was always at her happiest with a full table filled with family
and friends for Sunday suppers.
Antoinette is survived by her daughter, Denise Morrison
(Bill); her sons: Georges, Pierre (Rose), and Marc (Mireille Godin);
her grandchildren: Kristine Crann (Jeffrey), Julien LeBlanc (Elyse
Hinse), and Rachel LeBlanc (Charles Liikson); her great-grandchildren:
Alexandra, Malcolm, Gabriel, and Alexis; also Marc’s
daughter by marriage, Brigitte Julien (Shane Thomson), and
great-grandsons: Vincent and Benjamin; her step-daughters: Renette,
Joanne, and Lise as well as her step-grandchildren of the Bourgeois
family; her sisters-in-laws: Freda Léger, Sister Marie
Cécile LeBlanc n.d.s.c., and Marguerite LeBlanc; as well as
many nieces, nephews, and her friends from Residence Moncton. She was
the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Antoinette was predeceased by her first husband, Sifroi
LeBlanc (1989); her second husband, René Bourgeois (2016);
sister, Huberte; brothers: Eugène, Arthur, and
Dollard.
Antoinette’s family wishes to sincerely thank
Residence Moncton for their excellent care in the last few years, as
well as the staff of NB Extra-Mural, palliative care unit at the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, and Albert House (Hospice SENB) for their
presence and care in her last weeks.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Tuesday from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 10 am until time of departure
(10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C.
Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Wednesday November 17 at
11 am. Face covering is mandatory, and proof of
vaccination and government issued identification card are required to
enter the funeral centre. The funeral mass will be
videotaped, and the video will be available on her obituary on our
Website at the end of the day. Interment will be in Our Lady of
Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Antoinette, a contribution to
Hospice Southeast New Brunswick (Albert House) would be
appreciated.
