Dorothy Williams, 94, of Moncton, passed away on Friday
November 5, 2021 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Saint John,
she was the daughter of the late Georges and Marguerite (Surette)
Melanson.
Dorothy was a very kind and caring person always ready to go
out of her way to help family, neighbours and friends. She was a
devoted housewife and caring mother who thought the world of her
family. She was always so proud of her children, grandchildren and
would often talk about the accomplishments of her extended family as
well.
A native of Saint John, she moved to Moncton in 1949 to work
as a teletype operator for Sears Canada. She had fond memories of her
childhood in Saint John and always looked forward to the family trips
back home to see and spend time with the Melanson family. And oh how
she loved it when her sisters and nieces would come to visit her in
Moncton.
Be it in Massachusetts, Cocagne or Summit, she was a regular
at the Williams family reunions and, with the help of her sisters in
law, always made sure there was plenty to eat and that everyone was
content. She had many a fond memories of which she would share
whenever a family member would drop by for a visit.
Dorothy was an avid crafter who took great pleasure in making
gifts for people. She also loved clogging and line dancing with her
girlfriends or going to a Saturday Dance night with her husband Bob
and their friends at various social clubs in the area.
Dorothy was particularly fond of the bond that existed
between the families on Stafford Street and would often talk about the
neighbourhood parties, and how they contributed in creating
friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Dorothy will certainly be missed by those whom may have had
the pleasure to have known her.
She is survived by three children: Lisa Gauvin (Roland) of
Moncton, Charles of Fitchburg, MA, and Paula Eberhardt of
Saint-Philippe; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (late Brian) of
Dartmouth; six grandchildren: Lyndsay, Alex, Daniel, Suzanne, Carissa,
Éric, Renée, and Raffael; three
great-grandchildren: Maxime, Caroline, and Françoise; as
well as several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member
of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (2010); one son,
Brian (1995); one granddaughter, Cherisse (2021); four sisters: Helen,
Elsie, Doris at a young age, and Velida; three brothers: Charlie,
Albert, and Leo.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
