Pierre DesRoches, 68, of Moncton, passed
away peacefully surrounded with the love of his family on Thursday
October 21, 2021 at The Moncton Hospital after a courageous battle
with pancreatic cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late
Léo and Euclida (Landry) DesRoches.
Prior to his retirement, Pierre worked for the Department of
Justice as sheriff.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda née
Rogers; two children: Matthew of Moncton and Nadine DesRoches-Paradis
(Dominic) of Ottawa, ON; three grandchildren: Maxime-Pierre,
Chloé, and Jacob; one sister, Rachelle Bourget (Robert
"Bob") of Moncton; one brother, Paul (Joanne) of Moncton; as
well as his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Georges.
Pierre was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus
local chapter 1310. Pierre was a people person, the life of the party
and master of storytelling, he loved nothing better than entertaining
people in his garage (Man Cave).
He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and loved to watch them
play in Tampa where he spent his winter months. Pierre was a
goaltender and played hockey all his life, even in Florida with the
Clearwater Old Pucks. He was also a member of the Moncton Slowpokes
hockey team for many years. He coached and was President of Moncton
Minor Hockey for several years.
Pierre and his family were hosts for nine years for the kids
from Children of Chernobyl. Pierre loved to volunteer with many
organizations including Young at Heart in Florida. Known to many as
the ultimate fixer of things, if Pierre didn't have the tool you
needed, he made sure to have it the next day.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the
