Octave Maillet, 79, of Shediac passed away Thursday September 30, 2021, at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in St. Norbert, NB, he was the son of the late Edouard and Elmina (Babineau) Maillet.  

Octave came from a large family of 18 kids and worked as a painter/plasterer his entire life. He was well known for his friendly personality, big Nascar fan and his nice hair.

He is survived by his two sons: David (Monique) of Dieppe and Mike (Renée) of Shediac; two grandchildren: Dawson and Hayley; one step-granddaughter, Carlie and a special friend, Louise Leblanc of Shediac; nine siblings: Loretta Allain (late Laurie), Rezeda Maillet (late Alias), Jeannita Boucher (Léo), Jean Maillet (Odette), Emilienne Bastarache (late Eric), Florence LeBlanc (Roméo), Roméo Maillet (late Paul), Stella Carlson (late Albert) and Simonne Maillet; one brother in-law, Raymond, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Octave was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Thérèse (nee Collette); four sisters: Louise, Marguerite, Yvette and Noëlla; four brothers: Calixte, Alfred, Léandre and Alphée.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) where the celebration of life will be celebrated on Saturday October 30, 2021, at 1 pm. Visiting hours are Saturday from 11 am until time of celebration, which will be streamed live on his obituary page on our website. Due to the new regulations, face covering are mandatory, and proof of vaccination and government issued identification card will be required to enter the funeral centre.
