It is with great sadness that the family announces the
passing of Maurice Cormier, 80 years old from Shediac, New Brunswick
at the Dr-Georges-L-Dumont Hospital Center on Saturday July 17, 2021.
Born in Shediac on April 10, 1941, he was the son of Armand Cormier
and Marguerite (Belliveau) Cormier.
Maurice retired from a successful career at the New Brunswick
Energy Commission in 1996. Maurice Cormier has also served his
community as a member of the council of the town of Shediac and as
part of the volunteer firefighters of the city. Maurice has always
been immensely proud of his hometown.
Maurice is survived by his daughter Brigitte Cormier and his
daughter-in-law Kim of Shédiac, his daughter-in-law Lise of
Rothesay, his grandchildren: Maxime Cormier (Chantal), Xavier Cormier
of Rothesay and Maryeve Allain of Shédiac. He is also
survived by his brother André Cormier (late Wendell) of
Summerside, his brother Raymond Cormier of Moncton and his sister
Suzanne Cormier of Shediac as well as a sister-in-law, Betty Melanson
of Shediac. Maurice will also be missed by his cousin
and friends with whom he enjoys dancing, music,
sports, card games, good food and the simple pleasures of
life.
Besides his parents, Maurice is predeceased by his wife,
Anita (Leblanc) Cormier, his brother, Guy Cormier and his son, Denis
Cormier.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral
and Cremation Center, 396 Main Street, Shediac on Thursday July 22.
Visiting hours are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. only. Due to
the pandemic, face covering is mandatory and a maximum of 100 people
at a time with social distancing must be observed.
Funeral mass will be held at St-Joseph's Church, Shediac, on Friday,
July 23 at 11 a.m.
In memory of Maurice, a contribution to the Vestiaire
St-Joseph would be appreciated.
