The matriarch of our family has passed on.
Flora Gallant (née Babineau), on Friday July 9, 2021, has
left us to join her husband Rudy, her parents, and all her siblings.
Although we will no longer be blessed with her presence, she has
passed along her love of playing cards, her many Acadian recipes,
importance of family gatherings, appreciation of music (especially
Charlie Pride, Daniel O’Donnell, and Les Muses), sewing and
knitting tips, and her ability to enjoy
life.
She loved her children,
grandchildren and her great grandchildren and took great pleasure in
their many accomplishments. Most of us remember the great times we had
at the house in Scoudouc where friends and family were always welcomed
and many a good meal shared. We also enjoyed the home movies and
stories of the years spent in Germany when the family was posted
there. Flora was fortunate to have made a return visit to Germany
& France with her daughters. There will never be a shortage of
stories to tell as our memories are full of the precious times we
shared with Flora.
Flora is survived by her daughter Murielle Lordon,
her son Michael (Donna), her daughter Lucille Guitard (Alfred), and
Gisele Belyea (Andy); her grandchildren: Carolyn (Peter), Cheryl
(Ted), Rob (Denise), Rick (Alison), Mark (Jenn), Tony, Nicole (Jason),
Matthew (Stephanie), Danielle (Miles) and Kevin (Stephanie); her great
grandchildren: Ryan, Evan, Hailey, Stella, Dylan, Harper Grace, and
Flora. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and godchildren
with whom she had a special relationship.
Flora was born in
Grande-Digue. She was the daughter to the late Pierre and Julie
(Hebert) Babineau. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by
her husband Rodolphe (Rudy) and her brothers: Azor, Aristide, Laurie,
Edmund, and Henri; her sisters: Laura, Clarinda, Dorina, Laudia, and
Helena. She was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
