Sister Ruth Calvert, in
religion Richard-Maria, Fille de Jésus, of Canterbury Hall
in Riverview, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021 at The Moncton
Hospital, at the age of 82, and in the 62nd year of her religious
profession. Born in Campbellton, she was the daughter of the late
James Calvert and the late Olga Duguay of
Dalhousie.
Besides her religious family,
she is survived by two sisters: Barbara Bowes from Fredericton, and
Ruby Lagacé from Saint John; five brothers: Richard and
Walter from St. Thomas, Ont., Robert and Paul from Dalhousie, and John
from Pokemouche; and by many nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by one brother, James.
Sister Ruth spent part of her
life working in the teaching profession, then in pastoral work and
catechist coordinator in D’Escousse and Arichat, Nova
Scotia. Wherever she lived, she exercised her talents as a musician
and artist for the benefit of the
community.
By request, there will be no
visitation. A
celebration of the Word will be take place on Monday June 7 at 1:30 pm
at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton
(858-1900). Due to the
pandemic, face coverings are required and a maximum participation of
50 people at a time with social distancing regulations are in effect.
Interment will be in Our Lady
of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
