It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose-Marie Bourque at the age of 79 years old. She succumbed to cancer on Monday, November 30, 2020 at her residence, Le Faubourg du Mascaret (Pavillon Richard) in Moncton. Born in Saint-Anselme (now Dieppe), Rose-Marie was the daughter of the late Léo and Salomé (Léger) LeBlanc.
She is survived by Hubert Bourque, her husband of 54 years; her three sons: Jean-André Bourque (Nadine Lanteigne) of Caraquet, Michel Bourque (Bryan Clarke) of Calgary, AB, and Mathieu Bourque (Anik Couturier) of Dieppe; her three cherished grandchildren: Marie, Benoît and Audrey; her twin sister, Anne-Marie LeBlanc (late Elmer Biddington) of Moncton; her two younger sisters: Bernice Drader (Robert) of Courtenay, BC, and Ginette Gallant of Dieppe; her two brothers-in-law: Father Jean Bourque and Claude Bourque, both of Dieppe; as well as two nieces and two nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Alphonse LeBlanc.
After completing her commercial course at Collège Notre-Dame-d'Acadie, Rose-Marie worked for Assumption Life for several years before founding her family. Subsequently, she returned to the workforce at the Université de Moncton for nearly 23 years, the last 18 years at the Faculté d’administration before her retirement in 2006.
Throughout her life, she has been a committed person in her community, particularly at the Greater Moncton Music Festival, the former Sainte-Bernadette parish and the Dames d´Acadie de Dieppe.
The family wishes to express a very special thank you to the staff of the Faubourg du Mascaret (Pavillon Richard) for the exceptional quality of care given to Rose-Marie over the past 18 months. They also want to recognize the work of the doctors and medical staff of the CHU Dumont for the various treatments over the past few years.
There will be no visitation prior to the private funeral service celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Saturday December 5 at 11 am. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to her obituary on our Website. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Rose-Marie, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Tree of Hope) would be appreciated.
