Lorraine Melanson, 92, of Shediac, passed away on Thursday December 12, 2019 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born on April 5, 1927 in Irishtown, she was the daughter of the late Auguste and Léonie (LeBlanc) Cormier.
Lorraine was a volunteer for many years at the former Christian Food Bank in Moncton. She was also a previous attendee of the Moncton Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed rocking babies in the church nursery. In her later years, she attended the Shediac Bay Community Church.
Mom was always willing to lend a helping hand to her immediate and extended family (love your neighbor as yourself was her go to verse in the Bible). You would often hear her praying and singing throughout the day and even into the night. She was a very spiritual and godly Christian woman. Mom was also very generous in her giving and supported various charities here and abroad, doing this all in the name of her Lord and Savior Jesus.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen LeBlanc (Raymond) of Dieppe; three sons: Laurie (Theresa) of Shediac, Donald and Gary, both of Moncton; one sister, Maria Cormier of Shediac; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ulysse; one son, Paul; two sisters: Rita Noël and Yvonne Allen; and one brother, Eric Cormier.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday December 18, 2019 at 11am. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and on Wednesday from 10 am until time of funeral. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
In memory of Lorraine, a contribution to the Second Mile Food Bank in Moncton or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
