Marie Rita Léger, 103, of Grand-Barachois, passed away on Saturday October 5, 2019 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC, Moncton. Born in Barachois, she was the daughter of the late François and Jacqueline (Arsenault) Gaudet.  

Rita began her studies in Barachois, then continued her education at the Bouctouche and Memramcook convents. After finishing her studies at the Teachers College in Fredericton, Rita taught school in Bourgeois Mills and Trois-Ruisseaux during the 1930’s.

She will be sadly missed by her six children: Blair-Merville (late Elizabeth) of Grand-Barachois, Géraldine of Shediac, Guy of Moncton, Huguette (late Julien) of Gaspésie, Priscille Gould (Réginald) and Ginette Bourque (Raymond) both of Grand-Barachois; one brother, Merville Gaudet of Grand-Barachois; two sisters, Lorraine Caissie and Marina Bourque (late Bernard) of Shediac; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Blair A. Léger (1998); her children: Rose-Marie Léger Baker (2003), Charles-Edouard (Charlie) (2017) and Lucien (2006); her siblings, Aquila, Ulric, Léo, Edgar, Stella Doiron and Irène McFadden; as well as two grandchildren, Rénelle Léger (2018) et Steven Biddington (2008).

The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac. Visiting hours are Wednesday October 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. ONLY. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St-Henri de Barachois R.C. church, 1356 Route 133, Grand-Barachois on Thursday October 10, 2019 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in St-Henri de Barachois Cemetery,
