Gilbert Smyth, 87, of Moncton, passed away peacefully  on Friday August 30, 2019 at the Villa du Repos. Born in Rivière Verte, NB he was the son of the late Albert and Antoinette (Moreau) Smyth.

He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 6431, Saint-Jacques, NB.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Yolande (LeBlanc) Smyth of Moncton; his children: Daniel (Monique St-Pierre) of Moncton, Gordon (Lyne Dagenais) of Gatineau, QC, John (Joanne Levesque) of Dieppe and Sharon Smyth-Okana (Cyprien) of Moncton; his sister, Hélène Richard (late Rodolphe) of Edmundston, NB; his grandchildren: Greg (Mélanie), Mark (Josée), Jason (Dana), Danika (Chris), Jessica, Casandra, Kimberley (Matt) and Justin; also by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gilbert was predeceased by an infant son, Samuel (1957); his siblings: Lorraine Martin, Normand, Albéo and Gaëtanne Smyth.

Resting at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506) 858-1900, the family will receive condolences on Friday, September 6, 2019, from 7pm to 9pm and on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9am till the time of the funeral. The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11am at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
