
Jean "John" Gérard Frenette, 86, of the Faubourg du Mascaret, Moncton, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born October 14, 1932, in Moncton, he was the son of the late Gérard and Claudia (Boudreau) Frenette.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lucille née Robichaud; their six children: Cecile, Jean-Marc (Anne-Marie), Yves (Nancy), Monique (Charles Cormier), Hector, and Gerry (Tom); 11 grandchildren: Natasha, Jean-Luc, Denis, Jérémie, René, Alex, Nicholas, Katelyn, Michel, Martin, and Mathieu; 12 great-grandchildren: Vanessa, Adèle, Maxime, Malec, Max, Cédric, Savannah, Mackenzie, William, Julia, Félix, Stella; a son-in-law, Ronald Caissie, a daughter-in-law, Monique Gauvin, and a brother in-law, Roger Fortier. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
He is predeceased by two sons: Gilles and Jean-Guy; two sisters: Géraldine Fortier and Simonne; and a granddaughter, Erica.
Jean was a retired funeral director and past president of Frenette Funeral Homes Ltd., a career he enjoyed for 40 years. Established by his father in 1939, the company is today celebrating 80 years of service. He was also past president and member of the NB Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, past member and co-founder of the Funeral Service Association of Canada, past board of director member and president of Caisse Populaire de Lewisville, past board of director member and co-founder of Caisse Populaire de Moncton, past administration council member for l’Office de stabilisation des Caisses Populaires in Caraquet, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Thursday June 20 from 2 to 4 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. Church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton, on Friday June 21, 2019 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
