Aurore "Rorie" Anita Cavanaugh, 95, of Moncton, passed away on Thursday March 14, 2019 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hermance (Léger) Després.
She loved spending time with her family, especially at her cottage at the Bluff (Shediac). She also enjoyed shopping for bargains and travelling, particularly cruising. We nicknamed her the "Cruise Queen", having cruised over 50 times. Bon voyage!
She is survived by four daughters: Lana Jensen (Robert), Trish LeBrun (late Roger), Joan Hoadley (Gary), and Cathy Cavanaugh (Rino Levesque); one son, John Cavanaugh (Candy); 11 grandchildren: Melissa, David, Eric, Rob, Michael, Chris, Lauren, Julie, Jonathan, Kirsten, and Kailey; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jeanette Arsenault (late Bert) and Claudette Sackett (Hugh); as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Gerald "Gerry" (2000); one infant daughter, Mary; three sisters: Lorraine, Doris, and Thérèse, two brothers Raymond and Joseph.
The family invites family and friends for a celebration of Rorie’s life at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday June 14 from 1 to 3 pm. A prayer service will take place at 2:50 pm. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Rorie, a contribution to the Hospice Greater Moncton would be appreciated.
