Velida Williams (née Melanson), 97, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at the Villa du Repos in Moncton. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Georges and Marguerite (Surette) Melanson.

She is survived by one son, Erwin (Thérèse LeBlanc) of Notre-Dame; one sister, Dorothy Williams (late Robert) of Moncton; one son-in-law, Roger Thériault of Shediac Bridge; four grandchildren: Ginette Thériault (Ron Caissie), Marcel Thériault (Nancy McGrath), Andrew Williams (Charline Cormier) and Shelly Williams; two great-granddaughters: Mylène Caissie and Véronique Caissie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Laurie (1979); her daughter, Sandra (2002); three sisters: Helen, Elsie, and Doris; three brothers: Charlie, Albert, and Leo.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral service will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday March 15 at 11 am. A reception will follow. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Velida, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
