Rev. Fr. Alban Albert, 91, of Résidence au Bénaise, St-Antoine, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born on February 28, 1927 in Saint-Paul-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Henri and Léonie (LeBlanc) Albert.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, summers at the cottage in Grande-Digue and winters in Holliday, FL.

He is survived by one sister, Anita (late Léo) Léger of Baldwinville, MA; one brother, Victor (Lena) of Leominster, MA, and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother Denis (late Aline, Doris and Claira) in 2007, and one sister, Marie (Désiré Cormier) in 2009.

Father Alban was educated at Université Saint-Joseph and at Saint-Cœur-de-Marie Seminary in Halifax. Ordained on February 20, 1955 at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral in Moncton, he began his ministry as a vicar in Rogersville in March 1955. He was also a professor at the Collège de l’Assomption from 1955 to 1960; vicar in Saint-Louis from 1960 to 1961; parish priest in Adamsville from 1961 to 1967, in Rogersville from 1967 to 1972, in Barachois from 1972 to 1980, in Saint-Antoine from 1980 to 1992 and at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral from 1992 until his retirement in 1997.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Tuesday, from 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday at the Christ-Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton from 9:45 am until time of funeral mass at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary, Dieppe.

In memory of Father Alban, a contribution to the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral of Moncton or masses would be appreciated.
