Lorraine Béatrice Cormier, 86, of Faubourg du Mascaret and formerly of Baffin Drive in Moncton, passed away on Friday August 24, 2018 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC.

Her welcoming and warm smile brought her many friends and attracted many people towards her. Lorraine loved to bowl and play golf. Very good cook, nobody could prepare a roast beef or Coquille Saint-Jacques like her. Because of her husband Paul’s work they resided in Ottawa for fourteen years, only to be transferred in Belgium which gave them a chance to visit Europe. Her favorite pastimes was doing crossword puzzle, watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. An avid Montreal Canadiens fan, she always wondered if "Sid the Kid" could’ve brought another Stanley Cup to Montréal. Her new family at Faubourg du Mascaret gave her the courage to fight against her disease to which she never complained.

Born on November 14, 1931 in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Néri and Alice (Drisdelle) Melanson.

She is survived by three sisters: Germaine Melanson (Alphonse), Claudette LeBlanc (Don), and Pauline Belliveau (Fred); two brothers: Clarence and Roger (Sherrie); one sister-in-law, Roberte; ten nieces , three nephews, twenty grand-nieces and grand-nephews whom she adored like her children and grandchildren; as well as many cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul E. Cormier (2014); and two brothers: George (1966) and Paul (2008).

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 11am.

Visiting hours are Tuesday August 28 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm only.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Lorraine, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Palliative Unit) or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
