Sister Sophie LeBlanc, ndsc, in religion Sr Marie-Sophie, of Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Moncton, passed away following a brief illness on Friday July 27, 2018 at the convent where she resided. She was 86 years old and in her 70th year of her religious life. Born September 6, 1931 in St-Anselme, she was the daughter of the late Adolphe S. and Exelda (Cormier) LeBlanc.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by four brothers: Lionel (Laurina) of Dieppe, Jean (Joanne) of Moncton, Valmont (Linda) of Massachussetts, and Guy (Colette) of Carleton, QC; one sister-in-law, Jeannine LeBlanc of Connecticut; one brothers-in-law, Norbert Cormier of Connecticut; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Lauraine; and one brother, Roger.
Sister LeBlanc will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Wednesday from 2 to 8:30 pm and on Thursday from 9 am until the funeral mass. Solemn Vespers will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday August 2 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 am. Interment will be in Memramcook. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
