It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne McCaie, 96, of Moncton, on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre following a sudden illness. Born March 10, 1922 in Scoudouc, she was the daughter of the late Dominique and Zélica (Gaudet) Leger.

Prior to her retirement, she worked at Marven’s Biscuits for about 35 years where she got to know many friends. For many years, she was an active and devoted parishioner of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption R.C. Cathedral which was very important and precious to her. Her pleasant smile surely reflected her beautiful personality. Yvonne was a generous person always willing to help someone in need. She volunteered at the Karing Kitchen for 25 years. Yvonne adored beautiful clothing and fine jewelry. She had elegant taste. She was also an excellent housekeeper. She loved playing cards including solitaire on her tablet. She enjoyed many hours with her husband socializing with friends at the Champlain Mall food court.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years, Alderic; her sister, Edith Bourque (late Oscar); brother Lionel Leger (late Yolande Mathieu); several nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters: Rita Bourque (late Henry), Corinne, Albertine Thibodeau (Joseph), and infant Andréa; two brothers: Hervé (late Rita) and Camille (late Florence).

The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900).  Visiting hours Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, and Friday from 10 am until time of departure time (10:50). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, 220 St. George Street, Moncton, on Friday, July 27 at 11 am. A reception will follow at the Frenette Funeral Centre. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Yvonne, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
