It is with great sadness that the family announces that Laurie Collette, 92, of Auberge du Soleil in Dieppe and formerly of Parkton, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday February 20, 2018. Born on January 17, 1926 in Saint-Paul, he was the son of the late Rémi and Lucianne (Robichaud) Collette.

Well known and loved in his community of Parkton, Laurie was a sports fan, most of all hockey and his Montréal Canadiens. He was also a hockey coach and he played golf and bowling. His pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. Laurie was the owner of Laurie Collette Construction from 1971 to 1996 before working for the city of Moncton. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus council 6468 and member of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Golden Age Club.

He is survived by seven children: Paul (Marie-Ann) of Shediac, Armand (Anne) of Québec, Qué., Raymond (Claire) of Dieppe and Simone (Alan Anderson) of Grand-Barachois, Claire Richard (Georges) and Della Piccott (Terry) both of Moncton, Louise Collette-Bois (Roch) of Bathurst; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorina Melanson of Moncton; one brother, Fred of Moncton; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alice (2017); an infant daughter, Simone, five sisters: Dora, Anita, Irène, Léona and Precille; three brothers: Edouard, Gérard and Philomon.

The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church, 854 Mountain Road, Moncton, Saturday February 24 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Laurie, a contribution to the Moncton Headstart, the Moncton Boys & Girls Club or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
