Florence Babineau, 83, of le Foyer P’tit Chez-Nous in Grande-Digue, passed away on Saturday October 14, 2017 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born on April 18, 1934 in Sudbury, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Lauriante (Clément) Sabourin.

Florence will be remembered for her love of family and her community work. Florence had a rich and varied worklife beginning as a substitute teacher in Azilda, Ontario, a public servant with Superannuation in Shediac and becoming the first elected official of Grande-Digue. She embraced all aspects of her life with passion and enthousiasm.

She is survived by two daughters: Lise Léger (Tim MacKinnon) and Denise Andrus (Wayne) both of Grande-Digue; four grandchildren: Angela, Melisa, Roger, and Jessica; eight great-grandchildren: Emma, Katelyn, Abby, Zander, Julie, Emily, Nicholas and Jalyn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Roger Léger and her second Jaddus Babineau; her sister Rose and her brother Edgar; she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In accordance to her wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be celebrated at La Visitation R.C. church, 416 Rte. 530, Grande-Digue, on Wednesday October 18 at 11am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In memory of Florence, a contribution to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
