
Guy Poirier, 82, of Notre-Dame, passed away on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at The Moncton Hospital. Born on October 3, 1935 in Notre-Dame, he was the son of the late Philippe and Alice (Cormier) Poirier.
Prior to his retirement, Guy was a machinist at CN.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gemma née Gagnon; four children: Rick (Mary), Terry Malcolm (Greg), Pauline Morton (Butch), and Pamala Dupuis (Terrance); one daughter-in-law, Olida Poirier; three sisters: Angenette Mazerolle, Gloria Jessulat and Diane Brown; 10 grandchildren: Chrissy, Joey, Monica, Kevin, Sharlene, André, Steven, Sylvie, Nicky, and Jason; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Roger; four sisters and four brothers: Aurore, Jean-Paul, infant Raymond, Éléonore, Arthur, Jeannine, Alonzo, and Généva.
As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Monday October 16 at 2 pm. Interment will be in Notre-Dame. In memory of Guy, a contribution to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
