It is with heavy hearts, we announce the death of Samuel Spurgeon Dow.  He passed away peacefully at his home in Shediac Cape on July 30, 2017.  He was the son of the late Perley Dow and the late Helen Dow, born in Benton Ridge, New Brunswick.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Nancy (Bateman) Dow, son, Stephen (Elizabeth) Dow and daughter, Kimberley (Michael) Conner, grandchildren Kyle Conner, Timothy Conner (Megan), Brandon Conner (Shawna), Benjamin Dow and Rachel Dow, his brother Cyril (Stella) Dow, brother-in-law Kevin (Judy) Bateman, sister in law, Sandra Dow, special nieces, Sharri Coates and Darlene Dooks, cousin Collin (Annabel) Lewis, many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Perley Jr. Dow and sister Marlene Broad, sister-in-law Judy Welling.

Sam retired from Imperial Tobacco in 1993, after thirty-seven and a half years of service.  Sam loved to spend his time fishing, golfing, working in the yard, bowling, dancing, hunting, reading, being by the camp fire and playing cards.  After retirement, he also found he enjoyed cooking and baking, spending Thursday mornings at Shediac Cape School serving breakfast. The past few years he slowed down in some activities, but still engaged in lively discussions.   But mostly he loved his family.  Sam and the love of his life, Nancy, had many adventures together. The last miles of the journey were a lesson in love to us, as they cared for each other right through the final days.   He was the greatest fan of his grandchildren.  He went to many a sporting event to watch them all in the game, attended the plays and concerts.  His quiet gentle ways have shaped their lives, through them, his light will shine on.

The family would like to thank the many comforting nurses of extramural who made the final days so comfortable, the doctors and health professionals that were so vital these past few months.
