It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul-Émile LeBlanc, on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born on May 25, 1924 in Moncton, Paul-Émile was the son of the late Henri and Léoline (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.

He will be sadly missed by his much loved wife of 72 years, Eveline (Cormier); eight children: Charles (Ghislaine Allard), Paulette, Bernard (Ron Karras), Joseph (Stephen Smith), Gisèle (Rob Emin), Damien (Marcia), Paul, Charlotte (Patrick Wright); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four siblings: Juliette Babineau (late Fred), Aline LeBlanc (late Paul-Émile), Euclide (Angéline), and Annette Cormier (late Léonard); several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by six siblings: Lorraine, Léo (Ella), Marguerite Richard (Johnny), Rita Cormier (Wilfred), Bertille Burke (David), and Robert (Hilda).

Paul-Émile went to school in Memramcook and also attended Collège St-Joseph. He began his working life with military projects in the plumbing and heating industry in the 1940’s. He went on to work with Canadian Liquid Air for 21 years and became Plant Superintendent. This was followed by a successful career with Industrial Life Insurance where he was an agent and later branch manager. He was a director of the Life Underwriters Association of Canada for New Brunswick and was a Vice President for the Atlantic Region. He was later appointed to the New Brunswick Public Utilities Board and served for 11 years.

Paul-Émile played a large part in the community and church. He was past President of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church Parish Council and involved in fundraising for the Diocese. He was active with the District Boy Scout Association. In addition, he had a keen interest in politics. For many years, he was a member of the Liberal Party and was Past President of the Moncton West Liberal Association.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing and hunting and was in awe of nature. He had a passion for gardening and at times tended three vegetable gardens in different locations. He knew the local area intimately and enjoyed foraging for wild plants such as goose tongue greens, blueberries and cranberries. He treasured his summers at the cottage in Cap-Pelé, especially when family came to visit from far away. He was always eager for a game of 200. Our father loved to travel and after retirement, he was able to enjoy many winters travelling South with our mother and family.

Dad worked hard to provide for his family throughout his life. Our father was very proud of his family and he cared deeply for us. His favourite time of the year was Christmas when he enjoyed decorating the house in anticipation of his children and grandchildren coming home for the holidays. Dad valued tradition and he continued to give each of us a chocolate Easter bunny until this past April.

The family would like to thank the staff of 3A and 3C as well as Dr. Do Lan Vinh and Dr. Denise Melanson-Candela of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont hospital for the compassionate and professional care given to our father.

The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Monday from 6 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Tuesday July 4 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Paul-Émile, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Ward 3A) would be appreciated.
