Peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family, Joseph Gerald "Jerry" Black of Pte-du-Chêne passed away. Born May 12, 1949 in West Bathurst, he was the eldest son of the late Bryan and Marion (Roy).

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor née Sherwood; two children: Tate and Jodie; five grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Serena, Damian, and Amy; two great-grandchildren: Owen James and Lincoln; his sister, Rose-Marie David (Pierre) of Bathurst and many other brothers and sisters.

He worked mostly as a long-haul truck driver; driving through Canada from the coast of Newfoundland to the Northwest Territories. He also drove through many areas of the USA.  His heart always seemed to call him to that white line. Jerry worked many years for Liquid Air, retired; worked for Eagle/Agropur.

He enjoyed life to the fullest whether riding his Harley or taking on another insane adventure. To name a few; younger days down in Florida working with race horses and in Montreal (Brunswick Downs); Maritime Rodeo Association; Rare Breed for Rare Diseases (Lyons Club) and so much more.

Jerry’s pride and joy was his wife and children; he loved them dearly.  They were very comforting to him as he was battling cancer. Jerry will always be loved and missed.

At his request, there will be no visitation nor funeral service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297).
