It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of John Paul Doiron, 68, of Moncton, on Sunday May 28, 2017 in Bouctouche. Born Jean-Paul Collette on April 4, 1949 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Ami Collette of Bouctouche and the late Nélida Cormier of Moncton. Following his mother’s passing at a young age, he was adopted by the late Alphé and Lina (Bourque) Doiron at the age of five when his name was changed to Jean-Paul Doiron.
John Doiron served 27 years in the Canadian Military serving in Europe and Canada, worked as commissionaire for RCMP in Moncton, volunteered all of his spare time serving the Royal Canadian Moncton Legion Branch #6 as Sergeant-at-Arms as well as a member of the Dieppe Military Veterans' Association. He loved to wear the uniform.
John is survived by his daughter, Danielle Nicole Bennet (Gary); his son, Stephan Doiron; the mother of his children, Rose-Marie Roy-LeBlanc; his five grandchildren: Johnathan, Jessica, Sarah, Jacob and Austin; four biological sisters: Aldéa Bourque, Lorraine Ellis, Jeannine Williams, and Rosella LeBlanc (Raymond); his biological brother, Raymond Collette (Eva); three adoptive sisters: Linda Doiron, Patsy Arsenault (Leonard), and Diane Stewart (Roland); his adoptive brother, Claude Doiron; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Edouard; three brothers-in-law: Philias Bourque, Bill Ellis, and Guy Williams.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday June 2 at 10:30 am followed by a reception. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The veterans will hold a service of remembrance on Thursday at 4 pm at the centre. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
