Robert John (Bobby) passed away at the Oromocto Hospital on Wednesday May 24th, 2017. He was born in Moncton on March 20th, 1951, the son of Geneviève (Marangoni) Leger-Browne and the late Hubert Leger. His early years were spent in Shediac with his family.
Robert is survived by his mother, Geneviève and his siblings: Donald (Monique), Virginia Soucy (Pierre) all of Shediac, Denise Gautreau (Jean) of Grand Barachois, Janice Wombolt (Jim) of Halifax NS, Joël (Bernice) of St-André-LeBlanc, Anita Lahey (Late David) of Bridgewater NS, Michael of North Vancouver BC and Adèle of Calgary AB. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and six step-brothers and step-sisters.
Robert’s family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated nurses and staff at Mill Cove Nursing Home for their excellent care over so many years. Special thanks to nurse Heather McGowan with whom Bobby formed a special bond for many years until her recent retirement.
Robert is predeceased by his father, Hubert Leger (1987), his stepfather Ron Browne (2004), his brother Gerald (1964), his nephew Joshua (2001) and his brother-in-law David Lahey (2016).
Robert was born with a rare condition, Phenylketonuria (P,K.U,) and was a very special son and brother who enriched our lives by teaching us compassion for the most vulnerable in society. May he rest in peace.
There will be no visitation. A chapel service will be held on Monday May 29th at 10:30am at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac NB followed by a reception. Interment will be in the St-Joseph’s parish cemetery in Shediac.
In memory of Robert, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
