It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard R. Hire, 75, of Moncton, on Wednesday April 19, 2017, of heart failure, at the Moncton Hospital.

Born in Saint John, NB he was the son of the late Rowland L. (Bud) Hire and Yvonne L. (Cormier) Hire.

He is survived by his wife, Roslyn; daughter, Shawna (Pascal); grandson, Océan; granddaughter, Willow-Saule; his 3 sisters: Linda, Jan and Sharon.

Several of his friends have passed but those who are still here will miss him; Donny, Eduardo, Gerry, Malcolm, Dave, Val & Sylvia, and many more...on the lighter side; he will be missed by McDonald's, Value Village and Thrift shops all over Moncton. Richard was always generous to his friend; people say he had a heart of gold. While his family was aware of his short temper they took the bad with all the good. Everything he did actually made sense. He was very meticulous and a man of his word (unless he changed his mind for a better idea). He always wanted to tell people what to do and his best way to do it. "if i was you i would..." or "you need that, i got one of those in my attic"

Richard was a man of great knowledge and many talents and trades working for the NB tax Assessors Office for 25 years. Before that he worked in the Yukon and visited much of Canada and the U.S. He worked locally for CN Rail, Eaton's, disc jockey, and almost became a priest.

As death often comes unexpectedly, this is another reminder to spend time with those you love and decide what matters most in your life.

Memorial Reception at The Days Inn Moncton (across Casino NB) on Sunday April 30th from 1pm-5pm.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900)
