Cécile Poirier, 85, wife of Georges Poirier of Grande-Digue passed away on Wednesday March 15th, 2017 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC. Born in Saint-Louis-de-Kent on September 13th, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jean Daigle and Elizabeth Guimond.
She was an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Notre-Dame-du Sacré-Coeur College in Saint-Joseph in the Commercial Course. After graduation she worked at Assomption-Vie and once married, she greatly contributed to the success of the family business, Georges Poirier et fils.
In addition to her husband, Georges, she is survived by her six children: Roger (Annette), Gisèle Bourgeois (Stephen), Paul (Anne-Marie), Jean-Guy (Marielle), Daniel and Marise LeBlanc (Françis); 10 grandchildren: Anise, André, Josée, Daniel, Jean-François, Julie, Simon, Laurent, Gabrielle, Adèle; two great grandchildren: Aubrée, Rubie and one sister: Antoinette Cormier.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Laura LeBlanc-Doiron, Rev. Alyre, Arthur, Alma Blanchard, Albertine Gallant, Regina Daigle, Lina LeBlanc, Eloi, Aurèle, Sr. Maria CND, Yvette Doiron and Rita Daigle.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street Shediac on Sunday March 19th from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the La Visitation R. C. Church, 416 route 530, Grande-Digue on Monday March 20th at 11am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
In memory of Cécile, a contribution to the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Foundation – dialysis would be appreciated.
