Sister Jacqueline Poirier, ndsc, in religion Sr. Jacques-Marie, of Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Moncton, passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday March 5, 2017 at the convent where she resided.

She was 95 years old and in her 74th year of her religious life. Born February 9, 1922 in Grande-Digue, she was the daughter of the late Jacques and Justine (Bourgeois) Poirier.

Besides her religious family, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased two sisters: Sr Corinne ndsc and Sr Jeanne ndsc; one step-sister, Régina Bourque; five brothers: Edgar, Louis, Hervé, Joseph and Élie.

Sister Poirier will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Tuesday from 2 to 9 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until the funeral mass. Solemn Vespers will be held on Tuesday evening at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 8 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 am. Interment will be in Memramcook. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
