Due to the winter storm, the funeral mass

has been changed to Friday February 17 at 10 :30 am

 at Ste-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus R.C. church, Dieppe.

Surrounded by his loving family, Walter Savoie passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Villa du Repos in Moncton. He lived his adult life in Campbellton, making Dieppe his home for the last 15 years. Born July 14, 1933 in Balmoral, he was the son of the late Edgar Savoie and the late Rosane Savoie.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Marthe of Moncton, Pauline of Dieppe, Yves (Steve) of Toronto, Claire of Moncton and Hélène (Stan) of Dieppe; his five grandchildren: Mélanie, Julie, Philippe, Isabelle and Félix; his brother, Ludger (Clauda) of Moncton; his sister, Éméline Landry (late Odina) of Charlo; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was the loving husband of the late Madeleine Dumont and the devoted father of his five children. He had a zest for life and laughter, and especially enjoyed the outdoors. He established and led Variétés Savoie with gusto and hard work for more than 30 years. Devoted to his community, he volunteered countless hours to Club Richelieu, Chevaliers de Colomb, Associés des Filles-Marie-de-l’Assomption and Operation Red Nose.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Villa du Repos where he lived with dignity and received loving care since 2012. A special thank you to Gloria Allain for the care she provided to Walter in the final year of his life.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Friday from 9:30 until time of departure (10:15). The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus R.C. church, 160 Sainte-Thérèse Street, Dieppe on Friday February 17 at 10:30 am. Interment will be at Our Lady of Snow cemetery in Campbellton.

In memory of Walter, donations to CHU Dumont - Oncology Department (www.chudumont.ca) would be greatly appreciated.
