Sister Marie Richard, ndsc, in religion Sr. Jean-Marie, of Maison-mère des Religieuses Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Moncton, passed away Thursday January 26, 2017 at the convent where she resided.
She was 106 years old and in her 88th year of her religious life. Born July 3, 1910 in Saint-Norbert, she was the daughter of the late Jacques and Marie-Luce (Babineau) Richard.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by one brother, Jean of Ottawa, ON; one sister-in-law, Lyda (late Hubert) of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters: Sr Marie-Lucille, ndsc, and Suzanne; seven brothers: Placide, Isaïe, Hubert, Paul, Père Édouard, Gérard and Théodule.
Sister Richard will be resting at the Notre-Dame-d’Acadie Pavilion of the Maison-mère, 125 King Street, Moncton (Godfrey Lane entrance) on Sunday from 2 to 9 pm and on Monday from 9 am until the funeral mass. Solemn Vespers will be held on Sunday evening at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday January 30 in the Maison-mère chapel at 10 am. Interment will be in Memramcook.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
