It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Corinne Simon, 95, on Thursday, January 19th, 2017. Corinne (née Hebert) lovingly known to family members as "Meme", passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Shediac on December 12th, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Élodie (Richard) and Willy Hebert.
She is survived by her three sons: Donald "Boy" (Suzanne) of Beloeil, Quebec, Paul (Sharon) of Shediac and Roger (Laurie) of Iles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec; two granddaughters: Stacy (Chris) of Stayner, Ontario and Nickey (Rocky) of Shediac with whom she resided for the past seventeen years; three grandsons: Marc (Marie-Claude), Philippe (Judith) and Kirk all of Beloeil, Quebec; five great grandchildren: Noémie, Samuel, Alexane, Guillaume and "my little butler" and side kick, the love of her life, Alex; four step grandchildren: Renée, Michelle (Marc), Steve (Toni) and David (Jessica); two step great grandchildren; Brandi and Justin; one sister, Yvette Landry (late Tony); one brother-in-law, Jean Simon of Quebec; nieces: Liane (Gail), Liette (Paul), Danyele (Dave) and Carole along with many nephews and nieces in Quebec. She was also survived by several cousins, including the Bannister family. She held a special place in her heart for her niece, Huguette Poirier (Guy) and considered her one of her own.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, René in 2005; one sister Germaine; three brothers: Ronald "Buck", Gerry and Emile "Swede".
The family would like to thank all the staff of Extra-Mural Shediac for the wonderful care provided over the last nine months, with a special thanks to Donna, Denise, Danielle, Martine, Monique and Nadine. We would also like to thank her home care worker, Barbara, for the wonderful and loving care she provided to Meme up to her very last moments. Barb became a friend and part of our family.
Meme was a very kind and gentle soul and touched many lives. She had a very strong faith and gave generously to many charities. She became a second mom and grandmother to many. She will be missed dearly and will remain forever in our hearts.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St-Joseph RC Church, 415 rue Main, Shediac on Monday January 23rd, 2017 at 10:30 am.
In memory of Corinne, a contribution to the IWK Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
