Ronald "Ron" Valéri LeBlanc, 80, of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 13, 2016 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Born in Memramcook on January 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Raymond and Lumina (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Ron retired from the CNR after 36 years of service as a carman and was an active member of the CN Pensioners Association. He was a proud 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1310 where he continuously demonstrated tireless volunteerism. To his fellow Knights, he was affectionately known as "CN Ron", the guy who was always willing to lend a hand.
Ron was a very witty man with a great sense of humor. He could often be found enjoying a laugh with his many acquaintances at Tim Horton’s, King Street location. He was an avid Montreal Canadians fan and enjoyed watching Hockey Night in Canada. Over the years, Ron and his wife Ella spent precious time at their summer cottage in Grand-Barachois with family and friends.
Ron will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Ella LeBlanc; two grandsons: Patrick and Léon along with their mother, Murielle, all of Dieppe; two brothers: Leonard (Louise) of Wolfeboro, NH, and Joe (Rachel) of Dieppe; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his son, Gilles R. LeBlanc (2015); one sister, Joseline LeBlanc; two brothers: Romuald and Camille.
The family would like to express deepest gratitude to nephew Gary LeBlanc, niece Marise LeBlanc and family friend Shirley Smallwood for being there in time of need.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Tuesday November 15, 2016 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In lieu of flowers, any donation in memory of Ron to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
