Normand "Crab" Cormier, 59, of Cap-Pelé, passed away on Friday, November 11th, 2016 following a brief illness at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC. Born October 23rd, 1957 in Shédiac, he was the son of Louisa (Landry) Niles (Gérard) and the late Blair Cormier.
He was musical director at Radio Beauséjour Inc. CJSE & CFBO and former owner of Bel-Air Take Out (1982-1993). Over the years, he had been a municipal councillor for the Village of Cap-Pelé. He was known as being devoted to his family, sociable, and witty. Both his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Music was his passion and he felt privileged to have been able to work in this domain. Normand took every opportunity he had to mentor and influence musicians to help bring out their best. In 2014 & 2015, he was nominated in the "musical director of the year" category at the ADISQ awards. He had vast knowledge of many genres of music. Normand loved to not only follow the main stream musical charts for his personal interest, but also create musical charts for his work. People often said he was a musical encyclopedia.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Fernande Dupuis; children: Geniève Anderson (Philippe), Sylvain (Danielle LeBlanc) and Maxence (Sophie Bélanger); sister, Lorette Cormier (Ola Doiron); brothers: Ronald (Martine) and Paul (Mary Ann); grandchildren: Dawson and Rosalie, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Rose Gaudet and brother-in-law Léo-Paul Cormier.
