Maurice Thériault, 63, of Robinson Street Moncton, formerly of Caraquet, passed away on Saturday October 8, 2016 at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born January 22, 1953, he was the son of the late Damase Thériault and Émérentienne Robichaud.

He devoted a big part of his life to international development. He worked in Vanuatu and in Guinea Conakry in coastal fisheries projects. He also worked with the Maritime Fishermen’s Union and at Université de Moncton.

He is survived by his long-time partner Marcelle, who accompanied him during his illness; his son Samuel (Yutian); his grandchild, Isaac, whom he adored more than anything; three sisters: Rosemarie Fournier of Pointe-Verte, Cécile of Montréal, Monique (Denis) of Caraquet; four brothers: Robert (Marie) of Paquetville, Joseph Yvon (Jacqueline) of Mont Saint-Hilaire, Daniel (Élaine) and Bernard (Line) both of Caraquet; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Clara.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900) on Wednesday October 12, 2016 from 1pm until the time of a commemorative ceremony at 4pm.

In memory of Maurice, a contribution to Cuso International or to World Canada Youth would be appreciated by the family.
