Our sincere condolences to Simon's family and loved ones. I had the privilege of calling Chipper both a friend and a colleague. We worked on some incredible projects together and shared more than a few great laughs along the way. He had a special place in his heart for kids, as they connected with the joy he carried so naturally. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on.

On behalf of myself and my parents we would like to sadly offer our sincere condolences on the passing of Simon, your father, son, brother, partner. Having to take on such sad news is heart breaking for a loved one, a fraction of your pain is already too much and for that, I’m truly sorry. May your happy memories serve as healing. And know that He will always be with you, watching over you like the world’s strongest guardian angel! My family had the opportunity to spend close to 3 years living with Simon (he was 15) during his high school years before dropping him off at COGS. It’s not often that one would have a live in boyfriend at such a young age but Simon’s mother made a hard decision out of love and allowed her baby boy to continue to finish his high school years in the same area he grew up in, and not have to move away. With her doing that gave my family the most unexpected gift of joy, laughter and a new life that had never experienced such a personality! A smile that would light up a room! Laugh until you cry. Simon was very entertaining! He was funny, strong, confident and extremely kind and gentle to children. Even my budgie bird adored him. Everyone loved Simon!! So spontaneous! He would just all of sudden walk around on his hands on bare pavement, a walking handstand …I have yet to see any teenage boy or man do that! As playful as he was he also did his schoolwork, played high school hockey, while working part time, in all getting accepted into COGS. My family will always remember our time with him and will hold onto the many memories he gave us. We are truly sorry for your loss. Sincerely The Coolen Family.
