It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Keiver at the Moncton Hospital, on Saturday, August 7, 2010 in his 94th year. Son of the late Hugh F. and Mary (Adams) Keiver. He was also predeceased by an infant son Richard Lovatt and two sisters Bessie Mae and Marion (Wes) MacLeod. Born in Moncton, N.B. on September 29th, 1916, he grew up and attended schools in Moncton and then was employed by the Canadian National Railway for 42 years. His job was interrupted when he served his country for 6 years with the 8th Field Battery in England and Italy. After the war, he met and married his wife of 59 years Anne (Collins). They had four children, Martha (John White), Richard, Patricia (Wayne McConnell) and Janet (Donald Duncan). They moved to Fredericton in 1958 where they raised their family and made many friends. Bob was a lifetime sports enthusiast, especially talented in hockey, boxing and horseshoes, but he also loved curling, swimming, table tennis and lawn bowling. He enjoyed fishing and bird hunting and he had a passion for dancing. His special place was the summer cottage at the "Bluff" in Pointe du Chêne where he was able to spend long summers after his retirement in 1977. Bob was a long time member of Saint Paul's United Church in Fredericton, the Capital Winter Clubs, the William Ling Lawn Bowling Club in Shediac, the Royal Canadian Legion and a life member of the Fredericton Golden Club. He had spent many years volunteering for several groups such as the Fredericton Community Kitchen, Meals on Wheels and received an award for his work at the YMCA with physically challenged individuals in swimming and table tennis.
